The bridge of Liaskos

The bridge is built on the river Selinounda, on the borders of the village of Ano Vlasia in the prefecture of Achaia, which belongs to the municipality of Kalavryton.
It is single-arched and built to serve the agricultural work of the locals on the main Selinounda, in 1951 to replace an old wooden one, made of characteristic red stone of the area. It is located near the old mill of Liaskos, at the "Kunadi" location, and was built by the local - but originally from Epirus master craftsman - Nikos Papagiannopoulos, while the mold was made by Nikos Avramis from Ano Vlasia. It was made during the presidency of Takis Karamesini and the quarry from where they extracted and took the stone can also be seen a little further on.

It had a parapet of about 40 cm, which has been destroyed and its traces are clearly visible. Due to time and water pressure, it has been damaged and needs immediate repair and damage restoration. Its dimensions are: Arch opening: 6 meters Arch height: 4.20 meters Width: 2.20 meters Length: 16.90 meters Archway width: 0.45 meters. It is a beautiful stone bridge, a rare example of Peloponnesian folk bridge-building, but it sends out a danger signal for its rescue (source kalavrytanews.com)

The painting is painted by the sisters of the Monastery with charcoal and dry pastel indelible over time.
